Force and Newton Word Wall

Balanced Force The forces are balanced when the forces acting on an object are equal

Unbalanced Force The forces are unbalanced when the net force is anything other than zero, forces are unequal

Newton’s First Law An object at rest will remain at rest and an object in motion will remain in motion, unless acted on by an unbalanced force

Newton’s Second Law Force = Mass x Acceleration

Newton’s Third Law All actions (forces) result in equal and opposite reactions (forces)

Potential Energy Energy that is stored and available to be used later

Kinetic Energy Energy that an object has because of its motion

Inclined Plane overcome a large resistance by applying a relatively small force through a longer distance

Pulley Reduces amount of effort needed to lift mass.

Motion motion is change of location or position of an object with respect to time position

Speed The distance traveled over a period of time.
