Enrichment Report Malcolm White Million Minute Marathon Reading Enrichment Program

Million Minute Marathon Overview To enrich all areas of learning, classroom performance, and test- taking aptitude by strengthening literacy and reading fluency for all students. Ultimately, to instill a love of reading that will enrich the whole lives of our students. Each student reads minutes each day after school to reach an end-of-year, all school total of One Million Minutes. Vision Goal

Draft Timeline & Incentives Starting LineHeartbreak Hill Finish Line Teacher’s Choice ●1 student per class, recognized at monthly assemblies ●based on teacher discretion (not necessarily minutes logged) ●certificate given & picture displayed in common area Periodic Rewards given to boy & girl per grade w/ most minutes logged per schedule ●October-judge costume contest (9/?-10/23) ●December-$10 at Holiday Shop (10/26-12/11) ●February-First Look Shopping Trip & $15 at Book Fair (12/14-2/5) ●April-Private Movie Marathon day before April Vacation (2/8-4/8) All Year Top Readers ●1 boy & 1 girl per grade w/ most minutes over entire year ●Reward TBD All School Kick Off Something Fun For Everyone--funny event involving principal or teachers Schoolwide Classroom Parties SeptOctNovDecJanFebMarAprMayJune Weekly Raffle: 2 tickets drawn each week, each class
