Where was sputnik 1 launched? Sputnik 1 was launched from Kazakhstan (A country of west-central Asia, south of Russia) where the Baikonor Cosmodrome is now. Sputnik 1 was launched during the International Geophysical Year

Who was on the crew of sputnik1 The sputnik did not have a crew it was a satellite but it did have two radio transmitters operating on different short wave radio.

What was the purpose of the mission of sputnik 1 It was the first artificial satellite to orbit space.

Where there any complications? No, they had planned correctly and they succeeded.

Other facts Sputnik 1 was the first Earth-orbiting artificial satellite. It was launched into an elliptical low Earth orbit by the Soviet Union on October 4th 1957.
