Eroded, Collapsing Roads, Waterways Washed-out Road Material, Culverts, Guardrails, Signs Undermining, Sinkholes 4

Where Do You Start? Communicate with Local Media & First Responders on Road Closures & Possible Timeframe Place Barricades, Cones, Warning Signs, Close Flood Gates Prioritize: Passable-Impassable Clear Obstructions Where Ingress/Egress is Blocked 6

What Needs to be Done:  Get Information to First Responders  Prioritize Incoming Information to Meet Most Crucial Needs  During Business Hours Have Employee/ Volunteer Take Phone Calls, Especially in Aftermath  Assess Greatest Impact Areas  Have County Funds Available for Other Than Trees/Brush & Debris Clean-up, Roll-off Dumpsters 8

Work Continued  Communication with Crew  Who is Out There & Where  Complete a Task – Notify Supervisor  Watch for Vehicles That Come Up Suddenly – Signs & Barricades May be Ignored  Can Not Have Enough Signs Prepared  Floods Sweep Away  Signs are Stolen, Moved, Crashed  Brush/Tree Removal -- Crews Cut, Clear Roadway  Make Necessary Road, Bridge, and Culvert Repairs 11

Anticipate  With Continual Flooding/Storms, Expect More Work  Longer Process to Complete Clean-up  Will Make Some Repairs Several Times  Expect Disintegrating/Undermining  More Time Needed to Finish Repairs  Be Sure Employees are Hydrated, Focused  Becomes Overwhelming & Exhausting 12
