2nd Grade Child Find Direct services for gifted and talented children begin in the 3rd grade through the Gifted and Talented Education (G.A.T.E.) Program. According to the Alabama State Department of Education regulations, all schools must conduct a second grade child find to identify gifted students. Gifted specialists conduct activities throughout the year with all second grade students as part of this process.
