Self-Assessments What are they? What is it used for? What does it provide SQA Accreditation with? What benefits are there for the Awarding Body?

Self-Assessments Principle 4: The awarding body shall continually review the effectiveness of its business services, systems, policies and processes.

Self-Assessments Supplementary Information: The awarding body must demonstrate it has systems in place which facilitate continual improvement and show evidence of regular ongoing review and evaluation of its key business activities. The findings from ongoing review must result in an annual self-assessment of the awarding body’s operations in relation to SQA Accreditation’s regulatory requirements.

Self-Assessments Supplementary Information cont’d: The awarding body must take appropriate measures to identify business risk and where appropriate take preventative and corrective action. The awarding body must demonstrate that it conducts its operations ethically and takes account of all relevant legislation.

Self-Assessments Guidance: be carried out annually and the results submitted on a date agreed with SQA Accreditation that complements the awarding body’s business cycle. demonstrate a review of key business activities in relation to the SQA Accreditation’s Regulatory Principles (2014) and Regulatory Principles Directives. result in a report or action plan which is evidence based and focuses on improvement determining what is working well and what is not.

Self-Assessments Guidance cont’d show where business risk has been identified and where corrective or preventative action has been taken. be a natural component of the awarding body’s commitment to quality improvement. be signed by the Accountable Officer.
