Collection rate of glass, referred to the produced quantity of glass containers sold on the Italian market, is 72,94 %  Different systems of collection:  Door – to – door collection  Collection in ‘Waste islands’  Comingled collection (together with plastic and cans) - worst cullet quality

1. Glass collection stays below level in the centre and the south of the country 2. System of auctions of container cullet have quite changed the market, even if a part of the market remains free. 3. Glass factories need every year a better quality that imposes big investments in sorting machines 4. Prospects of glass packaging are good but should be related to the economical situation in Italy.
