MANAGEMENT is… PROCESS OF GETTING THINGS DONE TOWRDS THE ACHIVEMENT OF GOALS SCIENTIFIC UTILIZATION OF HUMAN REOURCES, MONEY, MATERIALS and MACHINES SO AS TO ACHIEVE THE DESIRED OBJECTIVES OR GOALS OF AN ORGANIZATION

Management Processes/Functions PLANNING ORGANIZING CONTROLLING/ MONITORING LEADING/ DIRECTING LEADING/ DIRECTING

PLANNING is deciding in advance What to do How to do it How much will it cost Who will do it How to measure performance

Planning bridges the gap between WHERE WE ARE CHOSEN DESTINATION

How to Plan? 1. brainstorm t (dream on…please) 2. categorize the outputs of the brainstorming (activities, objectives, design, marketing strategies etc. ) 3. list the reasons why you want to mount a festival (from the most simple to the most noble reasons)

4. Separate the objectives attainable by the event 5. Prioritize the objectives 6. Choose the activities based on the objectives (not the other way around) 7. Categorize the activities (presentations or performances, exhibit, street parade etc.) *this will help organize the festival events more efficiently (hindi halo-halo)

8. Calendar the events (the choice of date will depend on the nature and objectives of the festival) 9. Select appropriate venue/s of the event 10. Review the plan, revise if necessary 11. Internalize the plan

ORGANIZING is the process of putting all the resources together to ensure that the goals are achieved

What to organize? HUMANDefine functions and design a structure MONEYDrawing-up a detailed budget MATERIALS EQUIPMENT FACILITIES INFORMATION/ Knowledge and Expertise TECHNOLOGY

CONTROLLING is the process of measuring progress, evaluating what remains to be done and taking the necessary action to achieve or even exceed the objectives

Controlling involves 3 steps MEASURING EVALUATING CORRECTING

CONTROLLING also means * CONFRONTING PROBLEM HEAD ON AND LERNING FROM IT * KNOWING THE STATUS OF THE PROJECT AND ABILITY TO CHANGE COURSE IF NECESSARY * SETTING APPROPRIATE RULES ND GUIDELINES

DIRECTING is the actual implementation and carrying-out of the approved plans

Directing involves STAFFING TRAINING SUPERVISING MOTIVATING DELEGATING COUNSELLING COORDINATING

DIRECTING also means * SETTING THE MOST CONDUCIVE WORK ATMOSPHERE TO ENSURE THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF TASKS TOWARDS FULFILLMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES SET * NURTURING THE PEOPLE AND THE PROCESS OF IMPLEMENTATION * ABILITY TO SHIFT ROLES IF AND WHEN NECESSARY (micro and macro management )

EVENT MANAGER is responsible for ensuring the accomplishment of the group and organizational goals and objectives
