WP6 Technical Work J Lauterjung GFZ Potsdam
Objective The main objective is the development of a novel and efficient e- infrastructure concept addressing the needs of the end-users. To optimize the best architecture for the multidisciplinary distributed research infrastructure; To guarantee the technical interoperability of the distributed research infrastructures; To guarantee the adoption of common standards and practices for the implementation phase; To facilitate the access to data centres and to the use of modelling and processing tools;
Task 1 Interoperability of national research infra- structures and requirements analysis GFZ, ORFEUS, CNRS, TUBITAK, NERC(BGS), UU Task 2 Integration of EPOS data providers: access to Data Centres and technical facilities NERC, ORFEUS, CNRS, GFZ, INGV, NOA Task 3IT standardization and e-infrastructure implementation: EPOS Core Services ORFEUS, NERC(BGS), GFZ, CNRS, INGV, IG ASCR Task 4Development and implementation of an EPOS e- infrastructure prototype GFZ, ORFEUS, CNRS, NERC(BGS), IG ASCR WP 6 Tasks

M6.1 Installation of Disciplinary Working Groups (M3) M6.2 Workshops on e-infrastructure EPOS components (M 18, 30) M6.3 Working Group Workshops (status quo, requirements, feedback) (M 6, 12, 18, 24) M6.4 e-infrastructure requirements (M 12) Milestones/Deliveries
(1)Review and overview of already existing and planned infrastructures (instrument networks, laboratories, observatories, …) on national and european level (2)Review and overview of already existing and planned data-infrastructures and data repositories on national and international level (3)Identification of the responsible institutions and contact persons, data policies WG Short Term Targets
(4)Definition of expectations and requirements of the user community represented by the respective working group to the EPOS e-infrastructure (5)Identification of user specific software / processing software / software tools to be integrated into EPOS e- science infrastructure (6)Based on communication with other WGs the respective WG shall discuss arising requirements to their specific community (instrumentation, data sampling requirements, data quality requirements, data availability, specific products) to develop plans for future realization within EPOS WG Mid Term Targets
Procedure to designate WGs The WG topics will be approved by the Council Each WG will be led by a Chair and 2 co-Chairs, who will be appointed by the Council We seek and would like to confirm nominations for Chairs/co- Chairs of each WG at this meeting In the absence of suitable nominations for any WG, the IAPC will place a responsibility on specific individuals to find a Chair and/or co-Chairs for that WG The rest of the WG membership will be formed by the Chairs and co-Chairs, who will report its composition to the IAPC Each WG should now establish a calendar of activities within the next three months (MS24 & MS26)
