DAY 2

Mean is the Average. How do you find the average ? Median = number in the middle. How do find the median? Mode is the number that shows up the most often. Range is the difference between the biggest number and the smallest number. Right ! Add up the 5 cities and divide by 5. So, the MEAN = 1,149,524 Place the numbers in order. Then, find the number in the middle. Which number shows up the most? The median is 1,211,437. There is no mode, so this cannot be used. RANGE is not a measure of central tendency. It’s a measure of variation. You can’t use it. = 1,149,524 = 1,211,437 NO MODE NOT A MEASURE OR CENTRAL TENDENCY From the 2 numbers available, which is the lowest population?

Remember that the MODE is the number that occurs the MOST often. Look at the question. What are you being asked to find? That’s right! Which answer choice is NOT using mode as their indicator? So, the answer is…. Answer choice “B” A, C, and D are all using MODE

What is a parallelogram? It’s a 4 sided figure with 2 pairs of parallel sides! Draw one. How many spaces are there between K and L? What do you know about the opposite sides of a parallelogram? That’s right! Opposite sides are the same! Now you know that KL is 4 units long. How long must MN be? That’s right! MN has to be 4 units long as well. Where does point N land if it has to be 4 units away from point M? N Parallel lines have equal slopes. Are slopes of MK and NL equal? What about the slopes of KL and MN? Point N must be placed on (6, -2) in order for KL and MN to be the same length. From M to K the rise over run is 3 / 2. From N to L the rise over run is 3 / 2. Now, From K to L the rise over run is 0 / 4. From M to N the rise over run is 0 / 4. The Slopes are equal, therefore you DO have a parallelogram.
