What is Autism? Autism is a disability a kid has from the moment they are born A kid with Autism looks the same as you and me, but it changes the way their brain works Having Autism is like living in another country where you do not know what others are saying, or like trying to learn the rules of a hard game

How do kids get Autism? Nobody knows what causes Autism Doctors and scientists are trying to figure it out You can not catch Autism from anyone A kid usually has Autism when they are born, but learn and grow up to have jobs like you and me

What is a kid with Autism like? Just like other kids….they like the same things you do Playing Swimming Going places Having friends

Kids with Autism have a hard time learning  Can’t speak clearly  Make noises and sounds  Sometimes will say words over and over again

How can I be a friend to a kid with autism? Be a friend by….. Helping them play Being kind and patient Talking slow Using pictures Sitting next to them Visiting them Be a buddy

Does Autism go away? There is no cure for Autism A kid with Autism will have it their whole life A kid with Autism is still a kid!
