TRUTH: REAL SPIRITUAL HEALING, i.e., SALVATION, CHANGES PEOPLE FOREVER!

1. How Can We Trust the Bible? Real Names and Real People and Real Situations Changed by Jesus (BTW, He’s still doing this 2,000 years later!) (v46a)

Mark 10:46 Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging.

2. Salvation Occurs When the Sinner Realizes He’s Not Just Completely Lost - but Completely Helpless to Do Anything About It. (Reminder: Christians are also completely Helpless without God’s Daily Guidance, Leadership, Strength and Protection.) (v46b)

Mark 10:46 Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging.

3. Jesus always responds to our Legitimate, Loud, Unembarrassed, Continual, Bold Cries for Mercy and Help (vv 47-49)

47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

48 Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

49 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.”

4. His Mercy is Absolutely Necessary for Salvation - and Our Continued Living for Him

5. It’s OK to Tell Jesus What You Need - He’s Asking! (vv 50-51)

50 And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. 51 So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”

6. Legitimate Salvation Should Result in a Lifetime of Service to God (v 52; Luke 18:43)

52 Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.

Luke 18:43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.
