Student Expectations Spanish 2 Honors

Expectations of Students: To continue to develop skills in understanding, speaking, reading and writing Spanish. To work and communicate with each other and the teacher in Spanish. To continue to develop an awareness of several Spanish-speaking cultures. To be respectful of their classmates and the teacher. To always try to do their best. To adhere to the rules of the FJUHSD and the school site. ¡Sí se puede!

Grading Categories Spanish Honors: In-class participation (oral activities): 2% In-class participation (written activities) 16% Homework:12% Quizzes/projects:22% Section/Unit tests:28% Final Exam:20% Student grades are available online via Aeries. Student grades are also posted (by student #) in the room on a regular basis.

Grading Scale: A (Outstanding) B (Above Average) C (Average) D ( Below Average) F (Failing) * 97.0 % and above will earn an A+ I do not round up grades. Grades are automatically calculated by Aeries.

HOMEWORK 3 TO 4 TIMES A WEEK (NONE ON WEEKENDS) DUE ON THE DATE SPECIFIED SHOULD TAKE NO LONGER THAN 30 MINUTES LATE ASSIGNMENTS NOT ENCOURAGED MAY BE ACCEPTED FOR ½ CREDIT (TEACHER’S DISCRETION) IN CLASSROOM HOMEWORK & CLASSWORK CENTER HOMEWORK FOR THE WEEK POSTED ON THE BOARD POSTED ON THE LA HABRA WEBSITE DAILY Extra practice activities available via class links Information about tests and projects is also posted on the website.

Honors Level = Weighted Grades A = 5.0 (grade points) B = 4.0 (grade points) C = 3.0 (grade points) D = 1.0 (grade points) (No weight is given for a letter grade of D.) F = Failing

Bonus Points Bonus point activities are up to the teacher’s discretion and may be provided from time to time Any bonus points will be calculated at the end of the semester and applied to student grades as determined by the teacher. However, students are discouraged from expecting bonus point activities to compensate for a failure to complete regular assignments.

Make Up Work Make up consists of work that a student missed due to an approved absence. It is NOT work that a student wants to hand in for points because he/she failed to complete it the first time around.

Make Up Policy A student may not be able to make up ALL in-class participation activities. A student is allowed to make up homework assignments and tests/quizzes following an approved absence. A student is allowed one-day make up per each day of the approved absence. Any test/quiz missed due to an approved absence must be made up on the following scheduled make up day unless there are extenuating circumstances and those must be approved by the teacher. It is the responsibility of the student to request make up work. Homework assignments are posted daily and test/quiz schedules are posted in a timely manner as well. No make ups will be given for unexcused absences.
