SPRING 2014 KICKOFF MEETING DR. KRISTEN CUTHRELL DR. LIZ FOGARTY DR. JOY STAPLETON COLLEGE OF EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF ELEMENTARY EDUCATION AND MIDDLE GRADES EDUCATION ELEM POD

Purpose Expectations  Provide scaffolded support for interns in Senior 2  Enhance individual work of US, 4526 faculty, instructional coaches (Pitt and Greene Counties only) and 4325 faculty by creating opportunities for dialogue and sharing in a POD structure  Interns have been registered for 4325 sections based on county  Meet once a month to discuss intern progress/work. (f2f if possible, or Google Hangout if distance is an issue)  Provide updates of what types of work interns are involved in at monthly meetings  Determine ways that POD members can support interns in completing that work i.e. reminders; informal discussions; handouts ELEM PODs: 2014

Individual Responsibilities  4526 Faculty:  Instruct interns per the ELEM 4526 syllabus  Evaluate 4526 assignments  Evaluate edTPAs  Participate in POD  4325 Faculty:  Instruct interns per the ELEM 4325 syllabus  Evaluate 4325 assignments  Evaluate edTPAs  Participate in POD  Instructional Coaches (PCS and GCS only):  Mentor interns per TQP guidelines  Evaluate edTPAs  Complete informal Progress Reports/ Walkthrough Observations  Conference with CT and US  Participate in POD University Supervisor: Supervise interns per the ELEM 4324 syllbus Complete formal Progress Reports, Final Evaluation, Form C Dispositions Evaluate edTPAs Conference with CT Participate in POD

Clinical Teacher Daily interaction/guidance with intern Clinical support in internship ELEM 4324 University Supervisor 10 credits 4 observations, plus 6 hours debriefing with intern Clinical support in internship ELEM 4526 Instructor 1 credit online seminar University support in application of classroom management strategies ELEM 4325 Instructor 1 credit online seminar with a few mandatory Professional Development sessions University support in edTPA completion and submission Instructional Coach (PCS and GCS) weekly interaction/guidance with intern 3-4 observations, plus coaching sessions Clinical support in internship
