Tropisms.
Introduction When someone touches you, you turn and look. When you hear a loud noise, you may jump. These are known as STIMULUS and RESPONSE. Something.
TROPISM NEXT. . There are three main types of tropisms : Phototropism Geotropism Hydrotropism TROPISM refers to plant growth in response to something.
- Negative Tropism = To turn away from a stimulus + Positive Tropism = To turn towards a stimulus.
Plant Tropisms. TROPISM is a biological phenomenon, indicating growth or turning movement of a plant in response to an environmental stimulus.

  Tropism in plants are a growth or movement in response to a direct stimulu s What is Tropism in Plants ?

  Hydrotropism  Gravirtropism  Phototropism  Thingtropism Types of Tropism

  Hydrotropism is movement or growth in response to moister or water  Hydro- prefix for water so the roots grow toward water  Ex- pea plant Hydrotropism

  Gravitropism is movement or growth in the response to growth  Gravi- is a prefix relating to gravity, so the roots will grow downward while the plant grows upward  Ex- topsy turvy Gravitropism

  Phototropism is movement or growth in response to light  Photo-, is a prefix relating to light, so things will grow toward the sun or light source.  Ex- Sun flower Phototropism

  Thingmotropsim is movement or growth in response to touch  Ex- sweat pea Thingmotropsim

  Plants are unable to be relocated if they happen to start growing were condition are right.  however plants can alter their growth so they can grow in more favorable conditions  they do this by detecting were conditions are right they altar their growth by using their tropisms. Why plants use tropisms ?

  Positive = the plant, or a part of it, grows in the direction from which the stimulus came from.  Negative = growth away from the stimulus. Negative and positive response to tropism
