Adolf Hitler Matthew Chen

Born an Austrian, but German by choice  He was born in April 20, 1889 at Gasthof zum Pommer in Austria-Hungary  His father was Alois Hitler and his mother was Klara Hitler  He moved to Germany when he was at three years old  Hitler loved music and wanted to be a priest, but his father moved him to a technical school  A conflict was created between Hitler and his father  He was obsessed with German Nationalism instead of his Austrian nationality  At 16, he lived at a homeless shelter in Vienna and exposed to fear the power of the Jews. His hate for the Jews started at that time.  He returned to Munich, Germany at 24

From Soldier to Dictator of Germany  The Great Depression in Germany and Hitler’s accusation of the Jews was the source of all German problems led to his anti-Semitism  Hitler became the leader of the Nazis (National Socialist German Workers’ Party, )  He took advantage of the weak people and befriended officials in higher ranks with wealth

“Today, Germany; tomorrow, the world”  He strengthened the German army and increased the German territory  Men and women learned military ways and worked in munitions plants  Made Germany into a powerful, totalitarian state  He rebuilt the German economy

“One is either a German or a Christian, You cannot be both."  He and the Nazi Party committed genocide to the Jews  31M Jews were killed in the Genocide  Killing methods used: murder, starvation, forced labor, medical experiments, terror bombing  Not only the Jews, he killed Poles, Russians, Ukrainians, and Byelorussians  He also killed Catholics and Christians

News Flash: HITLER IS DEAD!  Committed suicide with a pistol and a cyanide capsule in Berlin, Germany  He was weak like an old man. His limbs were numb and weak. His mind would function between reality and fantasy  He was suspected of suffering from Parkinson disease  He was 56 when he died

Our views of Hitler in the present  Germans think of him as their savior  Germans today are proud of their nationality  Many people around the world sympathized with the Jews and condemned Hitler for his anti-semitism

Lessons learned  Evil men will win if good people refuse to do something  With great power comes great responsibility  Action speaks louder than words  Tyranny will give you depression after falling to opposing sides
