The Southeastern Region By Sophie Desidero

Location Charlotte, Memphis, and Jackson are the three most populous cities. The land in the southeast is mostly flat and swampy, and some natural resources include seafood, sugar, and beef. The southeast region is south of the northeast region. The latitude and longitude coordinates of Jacksonville, Florida are 30 degrees, 19’, 54” and 81 degrees, 39’, 20”. People may want to live here because the weather is so nice and there’s a lot to do.

Place Some major religions include Christianity, Buddhism, and Judaism. Major ethnic groups include Caucasian, African American, Latino, Asian, etc. Resources include seafood, beef, and sugar. Major landforms include the Atlantic Ocean, and The Appalachian Mountains. The weather is usually on the warm side with light winters, and hot summers. People who can’t take the heat might not move to this region, but people who enjoy it will probably consider living in this region.

Human-Environmental Interactions Some economic issues in the South include a bit of a high unemployment rate, but it is continually dropping. The climate can sometimes be so hot that some people might not want to live there. On the other hand people who can’t stand the cold might consider moving there. Due to the ocean being close by there is probably a lot of water pollution. This may affect people who fish and bring in seafood for a living negatively.

Movement People may choose to live in one of the many large cities in the southeast for work purposes, while others live on farmland so they can choose to farm for a living. Since the ocean is so close it is used for a lot of transportation purposes, some states are also close to Mexico, and may trade with them a lot. People who live in the Southeastern region like eat a lot of fried things, and also like to drink a lot of sweet tea. If one of the transportation routes were to be interrupted the region would lose a lot of money. This could cause many people to suffer from it.

Regions Major tourist attractions include Disney World, The World of Coca Cola, and Stone Mountain. This region has the most tourists so it brings in a lot of money for the U.S.A. from that industry.
