Essay Writing 101
When writing about literature Always include the T.A.G.- Title/Author/Genre Write in the present tense Include literary elements with an explanation of HOW they are used Use evidence from the literature…names, dates, places, brief summary… It should NOT sound like you are talking to a friend Leave yourself out of it
Editing Marks that you might see sp. =spelling awk.=awkward sentence/phrase/word √=good point made =capitalize =lowercase =indent
When writing essays in general Read over what you write and correct any errors that you catch Typing a rough draft is always preferable Double space (so I have room to make corrections) DO NOT use paper pulled out of a spiral notebook
When writing your final draft READ OVER IT MAKE SURE YOU USE SPELL CHECK Make sure your rough draft accompanies the final draft Make sure your name, date, block and assignment name are on your paper
