Which Book is “Just Right” for you?

Here’s the Test…. Find a book on the shelf. Before checking it out, sit down, and read several pages or maybe even the first chapter. Determine which of follow is true for you when you read the passage….

Too Easy: Have you read the book several times before? Did you understand everything in the passage? Did you know almost every word in the passage? Did you read the passage smoothly without even having to think?

Too Hard: Were you confused by what you read? Were there many hard words in the passage, like 4 or 5 per page? Was your reading choppy? (Test this by reading a page or paragraph out loud.) Did you enjoy reading this passage?

Just Right : Did you understand most of what you read? Were there a few new words in the passage? Did you have to think as you read? Could you learn from the book? Did you enjoy reading the passage?

The “Just-Right” book is one that you enjoy reading and can read with success. It is not too hard or too easy to read and will help you grow as a reader. Go now and find the “Just-Right” book…
