Who are you?

Starter Please seat yourselves alphabetically without any talking Challenge: Do you think you can learn everyone’s name in one day? The purpose of today’s lesson is for you to learn each others’ names, to learn some facts about one another, and to consider some facts and feelings about ourselves

The Name Game You will be playing the Name Game as a class

If I were… You will be doing an activity to explore ideas and images that represent you as an individual and then we will be sharing

If I were… (Questions) If you were a book, what book or type of book would you be? If you were a character in a story or a movie, who would you be? If you were a piece of clothing, what would you be? If you were an animal, what would you be? If you were food, what would you be? If you were one of the four elements-earth, wind, water or fire- what would you be?

Untying the Knot… We will now be doing a group activity together Please form groups of 8 or 9 students Listen for further instructions

Untying the Knot- Reflect on your experience Was it easy or difficult? Did some groups fall apart right away? What happened? What would you do differently if you had to do this again? What was the most difficult part of this game?

Conclusion Why is personal involvement in this class so important? Name some people in the class that you didn’t know before. What did you find out about them?

Remember Each student is an important member of this class It is important that everyone in this class makes an effort to get to know everyone else, and to work together. The success of the class depends on this. Each student needs to take an active role in this class. Individual success depends on this.
