Chapter 5 Lesson 2 Renewable Energy Resources
Presentation transcript:

 Solar energy come from the uv waves of the sun and is changed into energy by using solar panels.  We use solar panels so we can capture sunlight and use it to make energy.  We use it for heat and electricity.

 We use it to heat up water, pools, any water supply.  We use it for heating and ac units.  You can have a car that uses the energy from the sun instead of gas.

 It doesn't cost a cent for solar energy.  Its unlimited.  You can get as much as you want and charge something up all day and it could last all night.

 To buy the solar panels will cost a lot. 1000$  Your home or whatever is using these solar panels will only be charged during the day. So you only get to charge 12 hours a day.  If the weather changes your solar panels could be ruined.

 It is energy that comes from the earth and is transformed into heated water and electricity.  This term comes from the Greek geo, meaning earth, and therine, meaning heat, which means geothermal energy is energy developed from the natural heat.

April 2011 Geothermal Power Capacity

 You can find it in volcanoes, fumaroles (these are holes were volcanic gases are released).  Hot springs, which are where a lot of the hot liquid can be found.  And geysers. Which shot the hot steam out of the ground.
