Letter to Self A Chance to see the changes in yourself from the beginning to the end of the year!

Organization of your Letter to Self You must complete a prewriting web, rough draft, edit your first draft and write a final draft. You must have the basic parts to a friendly letter represented in your letter to self (heading, salutation, body, closing, signature). You may or may not include a P.S. Your letter must be a MINIMUM of one page in length. Remember to consider Organization from the 6- trait writing techniques!

Let’s Pre Write! Make a “ME” Web! Time to self-reflect! In your letter, you may answer some of the following questions: What do I really like about myself? What would I like to work on this year? Goals? What are my future goals? What do I need to do this year to reach my goals? Who are my friends? Who do I admire? Why? What is my favorite song, band or artist? What are my favorite hobbies? What do I most look forward to this year? Add anything else you would like …favorite things, info about boyfriends/girlfriends, etc…

Drafting! Now that your web is complete, you are ready to write the rough draft! Your draft should have all of the parts of the friendly letter, be self- reflective, and one page in length!

Revisions and editing Be sure to edit your paper and use a dictionary/thesaurus if needed before writing the final draft.

About your letter … No one will read this letter but you! All you need to do is show it to me so that I may check the length and organization. Make sure you sign your letter and seal it in some way…you may fold it, staple it, tape it, etc. You will receive this letter during the last academic week of the school year!

REMEMBER… Make it fun and take it seriously, so you will enjoy reading it at the end of the year!
