Interreg IVb - Transnational Co-operation Atlantic Area Programme Area:

The NEA 2 project follows on from NEA 1 l NEA1 had 11 partners from Wales, Ireland, Cornwall, Britanny, Galicia and Northern Portugal. l The project focused on watersports tourism with the main focus in Cornwall on running the Interceltic Watersports Festival which ran for a week in August l The NEA 1 project found that in a combined 30,000km of coastline, the Atlantic Area regions have: l An estimated 2.5 million people engaged in marine activities l Over 100 million tourists per year are attracted to the whole area

NEA 2: Aims and Objectives l With the new focus of the EU Commission on growth and jobs, NEA 2 has a harder economic/environmental focus than NEA 1. l The project builds on the raised profile of marine leisure in the Atlantic Area. l It aims to foster marine leisure business innovation, build skills, improve environmental credentials and include the socially excluded in the Marine Leisure Industry in the Atlantic Area.
