ICT Literacy III will build on those skills learned in 5 th and 6 th grades as well as introduce new skills. Information and Communication Technology Literacy – is a key to future success. You will learn how to access and use information and technology selectively, efficiently and effectively

MAJOR TOPICS O Special resources: O Online Library databases O Library Print Collection O POWER Library Databases O Internet O Search strategies and analysis: identify general and specific research questions; analyze, evaluate, refine and conduct searches using keywords and subjects.

MAJOR TOPICS O Acceptable use, ethical use of the Internet and consequences of abuse O Evaluating websites – what makes a good website? Which sites should I use and why? O Google Drive and its components – , docs O Office type software for presentation purposes

SPECIAL PROJECTS As we examine each resource, you will be: O Completing searches in each source O Locating information O Evaluating information O Making decisions about that information so you can correctly use it. Microsoft Word will be used for all class related work. There is a class folder on the S drive and your information will be saved to your G drive until time to print. As this skill is perfected, we will then use Google Docs and Google Drive as the class folder.

STUDENT EVALUATION O Class participation O In-class assignments O Homework Please review the rubric for class participation. Each assignment will have its own guidelines.

EVERYDAY PROCEDURES O Do not turn on your computer if it is off - look for a sign first, if no sign, turn on computer. O Check the S drive for the day’s objectives, bell ringers and vocabulary. Copy this information into a Word document that will be saved to your G drive. You will add to this every class day. Answer the questions and review the vocabulary.

EVERYDAY PROCEDURES O We will review answers (make any corrections) and begin the day’s assignments. O Before leaving the lab at the end of the period, save your documents to your G drive and close all programs so you are at the desktop screen. Log-off/restart the computer. Do not shutdown the computer unless instructed to do so. This will prepare it for the next user.
