Headmasters – dualism. Two headmasters manage together one school which consists of more buildings. They are not in charge of the administration concerning the staff and accounting, there is no economic department, no housekeeper. Cantonese tests take part 3 times a year. The results are used by the children and their teachers. Evaluation (marks): 6 excellent, 1 (hardly ever given, otherwise the child goes to a special needs school – for children with IQ 70 and lower). Behavior A – B - C Pupil`s record books for half a year. Classes start at 8:20 AM. Break for lunch 12:00 – 1:45 PM, then classes till 5:30 PM except for Wednesdays (morning classes only) and Fridays (till 4:00 PM). Full-time work load for teachers 28 lessons a week. Teachers in charge of supervision. Altogether 14 weeks of holidays. There is a social worker at school for spotting problems and their correction. There are 170 ethnic groups in Zurich. There are special classes for children for 1-3 semesters where they learn German only. Special classes for illiterate asylum seekers. QUIMS (Quality and International and Multicultural School) = a programme for those schools where there are more than 40% of foreigners. Half of the schools takes part in the programme, 15 schools report 80-94% of foreig- ners. Extra Finances: 10,000 CHF for the whole basic school + 1,800 CHF/class (40-60% of foreigners), or 2,400 CHF /class (over 60% of foreigners) – these are for materials and further education for teachers (different teachers‘ thinking). The programme also completes the model of the integration of the foreigners into society and proposes a solution for all stages of the emotional development of an immigrant. The efficiency of the cooperation in society also brings economic success (up to 30%) Classes of the lower secondary level were devided into groups according the performance (A, B, C).
