GOLF ETIQUITTE / SAFETY Play ball as it lies Keep up pace - be ready to play Keep golf carts on paths Repair ball marks / Replace divots Rake sand bunkers after play Do not play until group ahead is out of range

TYPES OF CLUBS Driver - biggest club - drive ball for distance – used in tee box Iron - smaller clubs used to hit shots in fairway - range from 3 to 9 iron – the higher the number the greater the loft Wedge - used to get ball out of sand or rough Putter - last club used to putt ball in cup – used on green Lower number on iron – less loft, greater distance Higher number on iron – more loft, shorter distance

TYPES OF SHOTS  Drive - first hit off tee  Fairway - play ball as lies - iron or wood  Chip - soft swing using high # iron - use to get ball up on green  Bunker - played from sand trap  Putt - soft hit to putt ball in cup - requires touch and aim - not power

GOLF SCORING Score is the number of times ball was hit in round Each hole is given a “par” number of strokes to play that hole Score is in relation to par - if par is 4, then Double Bogey - 2 over par or 6 strokes on a par 4 Bogey - 1 over par or 5 strokes on a par 4 Birdie - 1 under par or 3 strokes on a par 4 Eagle - 2 under par or 2 strokes on a par 4 Person with LOWEST score wins If par is 72 and you shoot a 92 then you are 20 over par
