Shortcuts To notepad To class web site

Shortcut to Notepad  Notepad is a text editor…like a word processor that can’t do bold, underline, change font…  We will use it to create web pages (HTML-Hypertext Markup Language)  Click Start button  Select All Programs  Select/Find Accessories>Notepad …don’t run the program, just right-mouse and drag it to the desktop…say to create shortcuts here  (Note: To run Notepad in Windows 10, use windows key + R, stands for Run; type notepad

Shortcut to class web site (schedule)  Open the class Web site in IE (or chrome, or firefox)   Use the left mouse button and click and drag the “e” in the address bar to your desktop Say to create a link (shortcut) on your desktop

Folder Relationships

C: Drive  OS  Your apps ( Program Files, Program Files (x86 ) )  C: Users>Your login name  Your desktop apps  Do NOT save files to C: drive

D: Drive  Scratch disk—store anything there  Anyone can delete, change etc…  i.e. temporary storage…we won’t be using it

F: (maybe J: drive)  Your USB drive letter- probably F:  Save your work there  When done, copy it to Z: drive…will show how later

Z: Drive  aka network folder, user folder, home folder  It’s also a shortcut  To a computer managed by Duquesne computer department  Only available in rooms 205, 345  Open up Z:  Should see pub. Our tech guy, Phil, created the folder for you  Place anything you want to be seen, and accessed, by anyone via Web.  Don’t modify, delete pub  You’re going to put your homework solutions there so GA can grade

Z: cont…  We want to end up with configuration like this JMA260 Images Assignments Client Practice pub Each of the three main child folders is then the parent of an Images folder…

Z: …  How do we create folders?  Create a JMA260 folder (NO SPACES) inside pub  Inside the JMA260 folder create the 4 child folders  Create an Images folder inside each of the three main folders  Example Assignments Images JMA260

Configuring USB device  Same Z: Except:  No pub.  New folder: InClass :  Try create JMA260 child folders on your own  Want to end up with:  Index.htm will be important…  don’t create at this time  Also HTML folder

Inside InClass create these folders  Dreamweaver  Illustrator  Photoshop  Premiere  Encore  Images  Inside each create child Images folders (NOT inside Images, however)
