Density – How much mass is in a given volume
In my own words How tightly packed the particles are
Density = Mass Volume Units – Kg/L, g/ml or g/cm 3
Ex: Gold density is 19.3 g/cm so 1 cubic cm will have a mass of 19.3 g 3
Aluminum is 2.7 g/cm 3 How much mass will 2 cm 3 have
4 Basic Principles of Density Can you guess them
Principle 1: If you pack more mass into the same volume, it's more dense.
Principle 2: If you pack the same mass into a smaller volume, it's more dense.
Principle 3: Just because something has more mass doesn't mean it's more dense.
Principle 4: If it is the same material, then it will be the same density, no matter the size.
