Arrival Procedures Rest of Year Week 1 Students who are dropped off before 8:30am must go to designated waiting area and wait for homeroom teacher. Kinder and 1st grade students wait in Room 201. 2nd through 8th grade students wait on the basketball court in their designated areas. Week 1 Parents may walk students directly to their classrooms. After the first day, parents may wait with their child in the designated pick up area. All supplies should be labeled and may be brought throughout the first week of school.

Breakfast Breakfast runs from 8:00 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. Students who wish to have breakfast at school must arrive between 8:00 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. All other students report to their designated arrival area. Fees- can pay on school store online $1.25 regular $.30 reduced lunch If on free/reduced lunch last year, the child stays on free/reduced for the first 30 days.

First Day Reminders Several important documents will be sent home on the first day. Please see Middle School Welcome Letter *Shop online to purchase your BULLDOG Scholar Agenda, Friday Shirt, and pay for Class fees The following documents must be signed and returned to your child's homeroom teacher by Tuesday, August 25th. These documents include: Student Emergency Contact Sheets–Must be returned with or without corrections Parent & Student Handbook acknowledgement form Lunch Application form Teachers must create a welcome letter online on their school website and can opt to send home a printed version. Teacher website must be up with current information by end of day Thursday.

Parents who already have an account with M-DCPS will have to renew their account through the parent portal. Parents who are new to M-DCPS must present ID and request their parent pin number from the main office. Then they can follow the instructions on the dadeschools website under Parents to create and account and add their child.

Frequency of Assignments Home Learning Policy Grade Level Frequency of Assignments Total Daily Average (All Subjects) K – 1st grade Daily 45 minutes 2nd – 3rd grade 60 minutes 4th – 8th grade 75 minutes All Grades Reading for 30 minutes in addition to above time. Students are responsible for recording and completing all Home Learning Assignments independently. Parents may provide assistance, but students must complete the work on their own. Home Learning Assignments should be done in a quiet place with good lighting and minimal disturbances. If there is a problem in understanding how to complete Home Learning Assignments, students are to do the very best job possible. If a student does not understand the assignment(s), they are encouraged to bring it in the next day and ask the teacher for assistance. In this case, the homework should be completed that evening along with the regular Home Learning Assignments. If a student is having difficulty in managing their time for homework, ask the teacher for assistance with homework time management Include procedures for students who are having difficulty completing homework (email teacher, send note etc…) Reach out to parents of students with a 504 to establish how you will meet those accommodations in the classroom. For example, allow the child to turn in the assignment two days late/ give the assignment two days early. Post up home learning the Friday before.

Emphasize the use of the car decals and the 10-15 min. wait time for parents who walk to pick up their students. Excused absences- must have a letter from the parent Only excused if students are ill or if there is a death in the family Teachers, please adhere to our attendance procedure. Pass out ACT paper to families.

How to be a school volunteer? Anyone that will come in contact with a BridgePrep student MUST register as a volunteer. Register on the MDCPS website as a school volunteer Registration is required yearly to be able to: Attend field trips with BridgePrep Volunteer at school events Chaperone any BridgePrep Function The value of BridgePrep volunteers cannot be measured!

Parent Portal: New Accounts In order to volunteer or view your child’s grades you must create a Parent Portal Account on the M-DCPS website. Parent Pin numbers will be issued by the main office. Please bring identification for verification. Please visit the www.dadeschools.net website for detailed instructions on how to create a parent portal account.

Parent Portal: Old Accounts Parents who have a Parent Portal Account from a previous year must log on to the Portal after the first day of school to renew their account for the current school year. If you forgot your username or password, click on “forgot username/password” on the parent portal login page and the information will be sent to the email associated with your account. For questions regarding this process, please see Thelma Soltis in the front office. Computer Lab will be open for assistance with parent portal.

Fundraising Several fundraising opportunities will be available throughout the school year. These funds are essential to maintain continuous improvements in our school. We are confident that our BridgePrep family will continue to support our school through participation in these events. Volunteer Hours are awarded for participation in school events.
