SAVING THE ORANGUTANS

Brief Information table Brief Information table Know Don’t Know Farmers burn down/log down forests Why does Indonesia Government refuse help ? Orangutans get harmed in the process What Solutions have been already implemented? Food Web Destroyed and Habitat Loss Who are the parties involved in this issue?

Main Issues Poverty and Unemployment Demand for wood (Logging) Demand for Palm Oil Demand for Metals such as Gold Corruption Poor Land Management and Security Poor Law Enforcement

Solutions – Logging, Demand For Wood Solutions – Logging, Demand For Wood

Solutions-Demand for Palm Oil

Solutions - Security Our solution for this issue is to import unemployed foreign workers and local workers to affected areas. Fund-raising campaigns and grants from other developed country will aid effort of employing workers to guard and protect affected and protected areas. That way, we can keep the Orangutans safe. We will also have hidden CCTV cameras and rangers to patrol the forested areas. The imported workers will be given high pay. This will help to ensure that they do not take bribes and at the same time do their work properly. This will also help to solve the issue of unemployment.

Solutions-land allocation Why not make an area just only for certain things such as for the forests, for farm land and/or for housing and when there seems like there is no space, add on to existing structures like for the farm land, make it like so you can make it one on top of each other and make it so that when it rains, the excess water will seep to the lower floors and for light, the government can place in those lamps that are like the sun(in a way) and let them grow and then be harvested, thus letting the villagers have a dependable income and even maybe, have he government give the villagers a sum of money until they can have a good/steady income and then let them use their crops and maybe even plant trees near there and after a few years they can use these as additional income for their village and have no need to do illegal logging. (I hope)
