The Scottish Bible Society’s values We commit ourselves to the following values as a staff team and encourage these in our volunteers: Mission focussed Bible-centred Team orientated Innovative and professional

Living the value of being Mission Focussed Recognise that in encouraging people to engage with the Bible, we long for them to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Understand and speak passionately about SBS’s mission Understand and speak passionately about the Global UBS mission Test if own activity and actions contribute to the mission Cooperate across departments by focusing on the mission Know the difference that SBS’s activity is making Use different/unusual methods relevant to reach different target audiences

Living the value of being Bible Centred Respect the Bible’s teaching and its authority Recognise that the Holy Spirit is the one who opens people’s hearts and minds to the message of the Bible Interact with others and consult the Bible (respect other’s knowledge of the Bible and its teaching) Be open to hear about and learn about the Bible Support the use of the Bible in corporate activities Be open to being transformed by the Bible (personally and together)

Living the value of being Team Oriented Create an environment that values others and builds trust Respect and be aware of differences Respects others’ job roles Behave with openness and integrity Acknowledge mistakes and offer forgiveness Be genuinely positive and encouraging, even when having to challenge Be vulnerable by being able to ask for help Celebrate success

Living the value of being Innovative and Professional Aim for the best – not satisfied with the mediocre Seek a reputation for quality Look for opportunities to be creative Intentionally build for the future Listen to new ideas with an open mind Look for ideas beyond our natural horizons Take real risks backed by good evaluation Foster creativity in others – exchange ideas across departments
