What is leadership? the action of leading people

What is a good leader? Able to effectively lead people to a vision or goal. Is respected

What are the BENEFITS of being a leader? Enriches Your Personal Life The Job World Employers are looking for people with leadership skills Leads to more job opportunities and advancement Promotes self-confidence, self- fulfillment, and self-worth. Opportunity to positively change your community

How are leaders created? 1.Molded and shaped overtime. 2. Hard work. 3. Have a willingness to learn leadership skills. a. Leaders are NOT born. b. You don’t need to be “super smart.”

What are the key QUALITIES of a good leader? Inspiration Communication Honestly Dependable Confidence Courage Knowledge

Why is INSPIRATION important for leadership? It motivates people to accomplish a leader’s goal or vision How do leaders inspire others? Need to be passionate about what they are doing Share their passion Have a positive attitude Use positive encouragement

Why is COMMUNICATION important for leadership? To be able to explain their goal or vision. To communicate expectations, give clear directions, and provide advice to a team. To be able listen to the needs and ideas of others.

Why is HONESTY important for leadership? Honesty is the foundation of any relationship  People look up to and want to work for a leader they can trust. People are more willing to listen and follow an individual that is honest.

Why is DEPENDABILITY important for leadership? It shows that a leader is serious and can be counted on. People are more likely to put their trust in people that they can count on. People are more willing to dedicate time and effort to someone that is willing to do the same

Why is CONFIDENCE important for leadership? If you didn’t believe in yourself, then people will have a difficult time believing in you.

Why is COURAGE important for leadership? Definition of Courage = when a person is willing to do the right thing even in the face of fear or danger. Leaders have to face many difficult decisions and to make the right decision often takes courage.

Why is KNOWLEDGE important for leadership? Leaders need to learn about the activity or topic they are leading. 2. An affective leaders must be willing to learn what it takes to be a good leader and how they can continually improve their skills. 3. A good leader is a life-long learner that is not closed to new ideas or change.

Are you ready to be a leader? Final Thoughts No one is born a leader. Leadership is a choice. It takes time and effort to develop the necessary qualities to become an effective leader. Leadership is challenging and a life-long process. Leadership has it benefits. Are you ready to be a leader?
