NEW ICT TOOLS IN EDUCATION

Multimedia in education ICT TOOLS Advantages Classroom of the Future Project definitions Examples Multimedia in education

Innovative teaching, multimedia in education Using multimedia in education people remember: 20% of what they see 40% of what they see and hear but about 75% of what they see and hear and do simultaneously. It means, by using multimedia tools we can create a learning environment.

New ICT Tools in Education : Classroom of the Future Project The main aims of the Classroom of the Future project are: (1) to build an Ideal Classroom for the 21st Century (2) to integrate multimedia learning environment into teacher-education (3) to test and research the efficiency of the newest ICT tools in education (4) to develop curriculum materials for different ages

Building an Ideal Classroom for the 21st century – some aspect of an ideal classroom

Mobile furniture One of the most important factors of designing a perfect classroom is the good selection of furniture. We wanted to have such tables and chairs, which allow for an easy and quick rearrangement of the room for different types of learning (frontal teaching, individualized learning, pair study or group work) .

More definitions of ICT tools and devices for your teaching The following examples of ICT tools, devices and infrastructure provide an overview of some of the technologies you will encounter as you teach and interact with learners of all ages.

ICT tools and devices: Laptops TabletPCs Gaming Devices Example of tool, device, infrastructure Definition Laptops A mobile computer that is operated with a battery away from power sources. TabletPCs A small screen (12”) laptop PC in which data may be directly entered onto the screen with a special pen. (p. 72) Gaming Devices Consist of a gaming console (e.g. Gameboy) and games or a content delivery method. (p. 73)

Advantages of Using ICT in Learning-Teaching Processes Information and Communication Technologies have recently gained groundswell of interest. It is a significant research area for many scholars around the globe.  Their nature has highly changed the face of education over the last few decades.

Students learn new skills: ICT allow for a higher quality lessons through collaboration with teachers in planning and preparing resources (Ofsted, 2002). Students learn new skills: -students found learning in a technology-enhanced classroom environment (Pedretti and Mayer-Smith 1998). -responsibility for their own learning (Passey, 1999) -reading comprehension (Lewin et al, 2000). -writing skills (Lewin et al, 2000) It has been proved that new technologies have lots of benefits on the students.
