Things you may not know about the HEFC What is it and what’s it for? How long does it take to complete and what qualification does it lead to? What’s it like, where can you take it and how much does it cost?

HEFC How many people are involved in the HEFC? Where can you find out more?

Employer engagement Northumbria has a good track record of innovative workforce learning programmes Recently achieved some substantial funding for employer engagement: HEFCE SDF project, HEFCE ECIF Employer engagement means different ways of working which impacts on systems, services, procedures, finance etc.

Schools Committed to ambitious targets – big increase in co- funded student numbers New ways of working with employers to upskill their workforce Represents opportunities for growth and positive change

Services Can all become involved in new ways of working which will create:- flexible courses, different start dates, workplace delivery As some examples.

Not forgetting... Northumbria University is itself a large employer in the North East There will be opportunities to upskill through flexible learning at work for Northumbria’s own workforce Paul Kelly’s presentation in the first Session today gave information: “Can we give you credit? Rewarding your learning in the workplace”.
