+ Definitions Commission: percentage of total sales Rate of commission: the percent used to compute commissions

+ Commission Salespeople are often paid a commission on their sales. A commission is a percent of the total amount of sales. You find the amount of the commission by multiplying the rate of commission by the total sales.

+ Example Mr. Sanchez sold $6,542 worth of jewelry last week. He is paid 6% rate of commission. How much is his commission? $6,542 x.06 = $ Mr. Sanchez’s commission is $392.52
