Year 3 Japanese In Term 3, the Japanese topic of interest is Geography & Weather. Students will look at Japan’s geography in relation to Australia & develop an understanding about city life versus rural life. Students will learn simple phrases and language related to weather and how weather is culturally significant to Japanese people’s way of life.

Year 4 Japanese In Term 3, students will continue to use the ‘Yonde Kaite’ workbook & develop the ability to change a verb sentence to a request to do something. They will also learn how to talk about ‘who’ does ‘what’ and extend their reading & writing knowledge of the Hiragana chart.

Year 5 Japanese In Term 3, 5R will resume with the Hai! 1 Course & Work Books’. They will learn how to Introduce themselves and their friends & will revise Kanji numbers 1 – 10 and use these to focus on asking/giving their phone numbers. 5D will follow the ‘ISV Learnosity Trial’ units of work using the gesture method. Students will have full use of the iPads secured for the school due to the success of the program in Term 2.

Year 6 Japanese In Term 3, Hai! 2 Unit 3 will be covered. Students will learn how to: ask & say what something is ask and say who things belong to borrow and lend items from each other say what colour things are change hiragana with tenten and maru learn about colours in Japan further develop Kanji characters Homework tasks & Vocabulary quizzes will continue to be part of assessment. Please refer to the Weebly for these and suggestions on how parents can help with LOTE learning.
