T.G.T English, K.V. No 1, Naval Base, Kochi. TOPIC FIRE: friend and foe Class-VII By LEKSHMI.N.NAIR T.G.T English, K.V. No 1, Naval Base, Kochi.

WHAT IS A FIRE? FIRE is the result of chemical reaction. When the oxygen in the air combines with carbon and hydrogen in a fuel, a chemical reaction takes place. Energy in the form of heat and light is released in this process. This is what we call fire.

What are the three things needed to make a fire? 1. Fuel 2.Oxygen 3. Heat

Uses of Fire Cook our food. Warm our homes in winter. Generate electricity.

Three main ways to put out fire Take away the fuel. Prevent oxygen from reaching it. Remove the heat.

What is the best thing to fight an electric fire? CARBON DIOXIDE EXTINGUISHER

FIRE FIGHTERS They are highly trained people. They cut off electricity supply. Knock down dangerous walls. Spray water and other materials to bring fire under control.

Match the following 1.Fuel 2.Oxygen 3. Heat Lighted matchstick Air Coal Wood Burning coal Smouldering paper Cooking gas 1.Fuel 2.Oxygen 3. Heat

Rearrange the sentences in correct order That is fire. A chemical reaction takes place. Energy in the form of heat and light is released. Oxygen combines with carbon and hydrogen.
