Job Description: Work Pre-K through 12 th Grade Prepare lesson plans, reports on student progress, be knowledgeable of deaf students with special needs, establish evaluation techniques for assessment of progress, participate in after school and professional growth activities when necessary, work with behavioral specialist in development of classroom behavior management programs Career can be expanded and a teacher for the deaf will often assume other duties in addition to teaching deaf students
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree Master’s Degree in Education of Deaf Students or Education of Deaf Students with special needs is preferred Fluency in ASL and written English Knowledge of the Deaf Community General education in Math, Science, and liberal arts Courses on basics of classroom management and instruction Ability to teach students on different levels with varying educational backgrounds
