  After American colonies gained independence, Tennessee became a part of North Carolina. A group of settlers called a convention and wrote to congress that Tennessee should become a state for several reasons. Without waiting for approval, settlers declared Tennessee a state on a state on 1784 naming it ’Franklin’. John Sevier became the governor.  But North Carolina did not want to give up their western lands, so Tennessee was not a state yet. Tennessee History

  Eight years later, North Carolina became part of the United States making the Tennessee lands part of the United States government. Then, the land called Tennessee became a state as it has more than 60,000 free living people.  Tennessee became a part of the union as the 16 th state on June 1, 1796  Tennessee's origin comes Cherokee Indian village called Tanasi that means river Tennessee History (Cont.)

  Tennessee is divided into three major regions:  East Tennessee, Middle Tennessee and West Tennessee  The East Tennessee region has three landform regions:  One of them includes the Unaka Mountains and Great Smoky Mountains. This is where the Great Smoky Mountains Nation Parks is.  Another region in East Tennessee in Valley and Ridge. It has many deep valleys between wooded Ridges.  The third region is the Cucumber Plateau. Farming and coal mining are important industries in this region.  In Middle Tennessee there in the Highland Rim and the Nashville Basin:  The Highland Rim has ridges, valleys, sinkholes and underground caves.  The Nashville Basin has good soil good for growing crops such as corn, soybeans and cotton  In West Tennessee there is the Gulf Coast Plain and the Mississippi Flood Plain:  The Gulf Coast plain has Tennessee's best farmland  The Mississippi Flood Plain is a strip of land along the Mississippi River and regularly overflows when the river overflows Tennessee main land forms

  Tennessee's natural resources are limestone, coal, oil, natural gas, timber tomatoes, potatoes, sweet potatoes, vanilla, chocolate, pumpkin, tobacco, pelts, squash, and pepper's.  Some of Tennessee's major industries are mining (coal) electrical power, enriched uranium production, music, automobile manufacturing, farming (tobacco, cattle, soybeans, cotton), walking horses, tourism, agriculture, manufacturing and service industries Economy/Industry/Natural Resources

  Tennessee is a great place to visit because there are many amazing tourist attractions such as Ruby falls, Tennessee Aquarium and Graceland. There is also the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Tennessee is beautiful and rich in culture  The land/property is fairly inexpensive  Public schools are fairly educated though other places such as the tri-cites are very well educated Tennessee is a great place to visit!
