QED 522 – ICT FOR ENGAGED LEARNING TECHNOLOGY USED: (1)PBWIKI (2)MINDMEISTER

QED 522 – ICT FOR ENGAGED LEARNING ICT TOOLS Rationale

QED 522 – ICT FOR ENGAGED LEARNING Rationale

QED 522 – ICT FOR ENGAGED LEARNING How PBWIKI support engaged learning (1) Student are intrinsically motivated and have a sense of belonging as they are involved in maintenance their resources in pbwiki. (2) They learn best with collaboration and working as groups because it allows knowledge co-construction through peer learning interaction.

QED 522 – ICT FOR ENGAGED LEARNING Rationale

QED 522 – ICT FOR ENGAGED LEARNING How Mindmeister support engaged learning? (1) Allow collaboration through brainstorming and think innovatively (2) Allow them to see connections and inter- relationship with the use of visual map. (3) Build on to existing knowledge and information and think further to solve a problem.

QED 522 – ICT FOR ENGAGED LEARNING Pedagogical approaches Focus: Project-Based Learning Project-Based Learning Anchored Instruction Problem- Based Learning

QED 522 – ICT FOR ENGAGED LEARNING Rationale of the pedagogical approach Project-based learning: Nurturing students’ development of critical thinking by encouraging them to be actively involved in their own learning. Allowing students to construct or co-construct their ideas and those of their peers so as to create meaningful solutions to solve an authentic problem. Engaging students to have an overview of their project through construction of mind-maps and exposing them to the design process.

QED 522 – ICT FOR ENGAGED LEARNING Project-based learning: Teacher will act as a facilitator and closely monitor students’ progress as they work collaboratively; as well as to give feedback for the students to evaluate. Provide opportunities for the students to think, work, present and evaluate their work. Rationale of the pedagogical approach

QED 522 – ICT FOR ENGAGED LEARNING Description of roles (Teacher and ICT) Thinking along engaged learning framework….. Roles of pupilsRoles of teacherRoles of ICT Real meaning of context  Analyse the situation in the problem scenario given.  Seek and interpret the problem faced by most people.  Identify the need and solve the problem.  Design an authentic situation.  Provide feedback to the group members for them to think critically as they identify the situation needs.  Mindmap tools can enables collation and aid for pupils to analyse the problem situation  Short video clip as an anchored instruction.

QED 522 – ICT FOR ENGAGED LEARNING Roles of pupilsRoles of teacherRoles of ICT Meaning making with scaffolds  Organise their brainstorm information.  Make connection of their analysis of problem identify from a single situation.  Introduce and explain the learning stages of design process.  Research process – Adopt the 5W1H approach and encourage students to use.  Highlight some good search engine  Questioning through pbwiki  Student can gather and organize their finding and load as documentatio n on pbwiki. Description of roles (Teacher and ICT)

QED 522 – ICT FOR ENGAGED LEARNING Roles of pupilsRoles of teacherRoles of ICT Collaboration with others  Exchange and share research information.  Challenge opinion and comments on others’ findings.  Compile and list out the design considerations then share ideas.  Ensures rules and regulation on pbwiki. Ensure no vulgarity remarks while in the discussion.  Check and prompt pupils if information not true.  Introduce mind map for student to use for brainstorm.  Select a leader to ensure all members on task,  Show some examples of ideas generated from a situation problem & discuss among student.  Pbwiki to link then to google sketchup so that they can use it to draw ideas.  Pbwiki can be used for online collaboration and discussion.  Using mindmap to work on brainstorming of problem from a situation.  Using mindmap to make connection to the design factor and identify using 5W1H principle. Description of roles (Teacher and ICT)

QED 522 – ICT FOR ENGAGED LEARNING Roles of pupilsRoles of teacherRoles of ICT Evaluating ongoing progress  Review & reflect at every design process.  Review and ensure tjhat they have consider on their design factors.  See peers’ & teacher’s comments and make remedial steps.  Use assessment Rubric as a working guide to think about the criteria on which their work will be judged.  Provide assessment rubric for self- evaluation & checklist to their work.  Give constructive feedback and recognise their learning needs so as to motivate them.  Provide cues and questioning so that they can think critically.  Consolidate all reviews and date in pbwiki.  Student plan and upload their project on wiki for teacher’s evaluation.  Pbwiki allows the teacher to check for student’s participation or contribution to the project. Description of roles (Teacher and ICT)
