Chuck always rides the CR bus each day to and from POCS. He knows the scheduled times very well. Each day Chuck struggles to make it on time. There are many days were Chuck misses the bus and calls Mr Cooke for a ride to school. Mr. Cooke graciously picks up Chuck a couple times. Chuck continues to miss the bus as he has discovered that he can now sleep in a few extra minutes each day. Mr. Cooke informs Chuck that he will no longer pick him up and that he must get up on time and ride the bus. What expectations were not followed here?

Chuck always rides the CR bus each day to and from POCS. He knows the scheduled times very well. Each day Chuck struggles to make it on time. Chuck misses the bus one day and calls Mr. Cooke for a ride to school. Mr. Cooke informs Chuck that he has to get up a few minutes earlier so that he can make it to ride the bus each day. Chuck, being the responsible young man that he is, adjusts his alarm clock to wake him 15 minutes earlier to ensure he has adequate time in the morning. Chuck does not miss the bus any longer.

Jimmy is very excited to be going on a field trip to the University of Delaware Dairy Creamery. Jimmy has never visited a real farm before. In the van on the way to the farm others begin to make fun of Jimmy due to his extreme excitement. Jimmy in retaliation begins to throw things at the other students and yelling at them. Jimmy is very excited to be going on a field trip to the University of Delaware Dairy Creamery. Jimmy has never visited a real farm before. His fellow student see the excitement Jimmy is displaying. Several students have visited or grew up on a farm. They explain many things that he is about to see. Why is the second scenario an example of our expectations.

With a peer, students are asked to come up with their own scenario. Student groups will act out appropriate, respectful behavior for their scenario. Teacher and other students will provide feedback to peer groups.
