SESSION 2 Breaking Sin’s Hold

Romans 3:23 “There is no difference between us; All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. Romans 3 vs 23 There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God Isaiah 53 vs 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; Romans 6 vs 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Sin produces:- A desire for more sin It is like a cancer It is poisonous We become slaves to sin It separates us from God A desire for more sin – becomes like an unquenchable thirst It is like a cancer – grows secretly and uncontrollably It is poisonous – rotting your soul We become slaves to sin – It becomes our master It separates us from God - Holy Father God can’t dwell in the darkness

Sin in today’s world Unholy relationships Occult practices Life Sexual sin, lust Life Pride, anger, hatred, selfishness Occult practices Ouija, tarot cards, horoscopes witchcraft, spiritism Unholy relationships Adultery, fornication, homosexuality Bible makes it plain: Sex is God’s design, and meant to enhance the relationship of a married man and woman. Relying on, contacting spirits other than the Holy Spirit. Life Pride, anger, hatred, selfishness Most of us fall in one of these areas occasionally. God may show you one of these areas that is a real weakness, or issue in your life.

Repentance Is: A Decision Confessing our sins Apologising to God Turning away from sin A gift for the rest of your life! We must confess our sins. Why? Well, until we do we cannot be forgiven them. Jesus can forgive sins, He can’t do anything with excuses. That is our part. Now we need to understand the tremendous significance of Jesus’ part, the vast and thrilling power behind the victory that has been won on our behalf!

You have been trapped by a lifetime of disobedience, and this has given the Evil one an authority over you that you couldn’t break even if you wanted to. No, something much more fundamental has to happen …

The power of the Blood of Jesus! Hebrews 9:28 “Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of the people.” Not only have we access into the Presence of God, but we can be clean and pure in His sight! Our sins are forgiven. The psalmist tells us that He puts them as far from us as the east is from the west, and He will never refer to them again. Your past is dealt with. You are right with God.

Come and be cleansed! Hebrews 9:14 “How much more shall the Blood of Christ ….cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God!” It’s a lovely theory. But it of no effect until we believe it by faith and actively apply it to our own lives. As the writer of Hebrews says, “the Blood will cleanse our consciences from dead works so that we can serve the living God.

Prayer Lord Jesus, thank You that you paid the price for all my sin, and I come to You today and ask You to forgive me because I have sinned and gone my own way. I repent specifically for..........

I break the hold these sins have had in my life right now in Jesus’ Name. I declare that the blood of Jesus washes over me and sets me free.
