Competition between Mourning Doves and Collared Doves A research project conducted by Jamie Summers, a Junior Wildlife and Fisheries Biology Major at Tennessee Technological University
Hypothesis Competition Between Eurasion Collared Doves and Mourning Doves Jamie Summers Undergraduate Student in Wildlife & Fisheries Science Tennessee Technological University Cookeville, TN Hypothesis I believe that this study will prove that the Eurasion Collared Dove (Streptopelia decaocto) will have a distinct advantage over Mourning Doves (Zenaida macroura) for food rations. I feel that the Collared Doves will use size to their advantage when in contact with the Mourning Doves. I anticipate the Collared Doves will physically challenge the Mourning Doves and outcompete them for food. Null Hypothesis No apparent competition will exist between Eurasion Collared Dove (Streptopelia decaocto) and the Mourning Dove ((Zenaida macroura).
