In Egypt today more than a third of women cannot read or write

Women like Sabren Awad and her family As a young girl she was forced to leave school because of her parents traditions and beliefs. For years she was locked out of the world she was living in. Until she found out about classes that would transform her life.

The Coptic Orthodox Church Bless is providing free classes, stationery and books. Everything necessary to support women in Egypt to learn to read and write.

Women can learn in a safe environment together

In 2013, 1372 women learnt to read and write through the dedicated support of our partner.
