The Alamo By : Michael wells

The battle The battle at the Alamo lasted for 13 days it started on February 23, 1836 and ended on march 6, The Texans took 189 casualties while Mexico took around 1000 casualties…

Fun facts William Travis supposedly drew a line in the dirt and told anyone willing to fight for the Alamo to cross the line. legend says all but 1 did… Jim bowie was a renowned knife fighter. one of his most famous inventions is the bowie knife the biggest knife made to date.

Significance of battle The loss at the Alamo inspired the victory at san Jacinto against the Mexicans. It was also the first place where the words “remember the Alamo!” were first spoken

The six men The six most commonly known men who were involved (four of which died at it) with the Alamo are, James Bowie, David “Davey” Crockett, Stephen F. Austin, William.B Travis, Samuel Houston, and James B. Bonham.

Outcome. The Texans fought bravely but the Mexican army, lead by Santa Anna, defeated them. All 189 defenders died in the tragic battle. but the loss at the battle of the Alamo led to the victory of many more battles, and the victory of the revolution. So it is safe to say the men who died at the Alamo did not die in vain.
