TITLE INTRODUCTION FEEDING RELATIONSHIPS FOOD CHAIN/ FOOD WEB SYMBIOSIS SUMMARY
Ecology is the scientific study of interactions of organisms with one another and with the physical and chemical environment. Although it includes the study of environmental problems such as pollution, the science of ecology mainly involves research on the natural world from many viewpoints, using many techniques. Modern ecology relies heavily on experiments, both in laboratory and in field settings. These techniques have proved useful in testing ecological theories, and in arriving at practical decisions concerning the management of natural resources.
AUTOTROPH HETEROTROPH An autotroph is an organism that creates its own food through photosynthesis o r chemosynthesis. This is like a plant or protist. A heterotroph is like a human or other animal; they cannot produce their own food and must eat other organisms to live.
CARNIVORE HERBIVORE A carnivore is an animal that gets food from killing and eating other animals. Carnivores generally eat herbivores, but can eat omnivores, and occasionally other carnivores. Animals that eat other animals, like carnivores and omnivores are important to any ecosystem, because they keep other species from getting overpopulated.herbivoresomnivores A herbivore is an animal that gets its energy from eating plants, and only plants. Omnivores can also eat parts of plants, but generally only the fruits and vegetables produced by fruit-bearing plants. Many herbivores have special digestive systems that let them digest all kinds of plants, including grasses.plantsOmnivores
PREDATORS PREY A predator is an animal or other organism that hunts and kills other organisms for food in an act called predation. The prey is food for the predators. They are always endangered species. The predators hunt the prey as there dinner. The prey is always on the run from predators. Mostly carnivore predators because they eat anything.
FOOD CHAINS/FOOD WEB FOOD CHAINS/FOOD WEB A food web is a diagram of the links among species in an ecosystem – essentially who eats what. A food chain shows only the organisms that contribute to the diet of the top consumer.
SYMBIOSIS SYMBIOTIC RELATIONSHIPS Symbiosis is a situation in which 2 different organisms live together in close association. Just living in the same place is not enough. By "close association" biologists mean that if they are separated, one (or both!) of these organisms will probably die. organisms A symbiotic relationship is a relationship between two entities which is mutually beneficial for the participants of the relationship. Thus there is a positive-sum gain from cooperation. This is a term commonly used in biology to explain the relationship between two entities that need each other to survive and prosper.
Human Impact on The Environment Natural environment is of crucial importance for social and economic life. What we do in our everyday life effects our planet greatly. Everything we do has a consequence.
