What is a VPN? VPN stand for Virtual Private Network. It is a private network which uses another network which is public (usually the internet) to connect multiple users. Users are able to connect to the private network from a public network without sacrificing security concerns. VPN: Virtual Private Network
How do VPN's work? First the client, wanting to connect to the company's network, connects to the internet. After that, the client initiates a VPN connection with the company's server. Before the connection is made the endpoints must be authenticated. Once the connection is made the client can securely access the company's network. VPN: Virtual Private Network
What does that mean to you? By establishing a VPN connection, you are able to securely access any available network services provided through the CAIU including: Printer access Fileserver access Central referral\Database access Internet filtering policies VPN: Virtual Private Network

What is the fileserver? “My H: drive” Many of you may hear people describe their “Home Folder” or their “H:” drive. What they are referring to is your unique and secure network storage that is housed on our fileserver in our data center in the Enola office. This fileserver is backed up daily using our storage area network (SAN) resources. Fileserver Access
How do I access this folder? When you are on a CAIU site such as our Enola office, Hilltop, Delbrook, Lemoyne Preschool, etc…, you automatically have access to this folder when you are connected to the CAIUSecure wireless/wired network. If you are in (virtually) any other location with an available network connection, you may establish a “virtual” connection using your Cisco AnyConnect VPN client to access your personal network storage from any location.
