( Marie Sklodowska moved to Paris to be with her sister in 1891 and met the French chemist Pierre Curie 1894 then was married a year later. Together they studied radioactivity. (a term coined by Marie).
( Marie and Pierre discovered two new elements: Polonium and Radium. Polonium was named after Marie’s country of birth. (Poland.) They were awarded a Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
( Pierre discovered that Radium could kill tissue, this knowledge was used to treat cancer and other such diseases.
( tml) tml Marie and Pierre Curie had a word named after them. A Curie is a basic unit of measurement for describing radioactivity.
( Sklodowska.html) Sklodowska.html Polonium was the first element discovered via its property of radioactivity. Marie Curie used group separation and fractional crystallization to identify polonium.
