Using a Thesaurus
A thesaurus is a reference book that helps us to use more exact words for our writing. It is in alphabetical order like a dictionary. It contains synonyms for words that we use often. It may also contain antonyms for words we use often.
Example of a thesaurus entries: Cold adj. chilly, cool, freezing, frosty, icy ANTONYMS: hot, warm, steaming, thawed Cook v. bake, boil, fry, prepare, steam Cut v. carve, chop, clip, crack, slice, split, trim ANTONYMS: repair, combine, join
