Finding the Whole Amount When Given the Part and the Percent
Presentation transcript:

Lesson Topic: Solving Percent Problems Lesson Objective: I can…  Find the percent of a quantity. Given a part and the percent, I can solve problems involving finding the whole.

Let’s complete example problems in centers…  Number off for where to start  You will have 5 minutes at each center to complete the activity.  When you complete the activity at a station, show your work in as many different ways as possible. Some examples include tape diagrams, double number lines, 10 x 10 grids, ratio tables, is/of = percent/100, etc.

Let’s go over what we got (and how) at each center… On the document camera

Lesson Summary…  Percent problems include three parts: 1. The whole, 2. The part, 3. and the percent out of 100.  When one of these values is missing, percentage problems can be solved for the missing number by using models such as ratio tables, tape diagrams, double number line diagrams, and 10 x 10 grids.
